The original yosegi material is made by layering thin natural wood (tsukiita) of 0.5mm to 1.5mm and expressing delicate and colorful stripe patterns with the colors of the wood.
The black wood is ebony, the red wood is bloodwood, and various other species are used, but many of them are rare species that are not available today, and it is impossible to create the same colorful parquet material again, making it one-of-a-kind.
For example, to make a 0.5 mm piece of wood into a 50 mm material, 100 pieces of wood need to be laminated together. Since each piece is carefully laminated one by one to avoid adhesive defects, this is a small but limited piece that cannot be mass-produced.
