Eucalyptus: A Diverse Group and Its Veneer Character
Wood Dictionary
Eucalyptus may bring koalas or aromatic leaves to mind. As timber, too, it includes many types and appearances. A useful starting point is that the name refers to a large group, not a single species.

The photographs are examples of the color and grain associated with each wood or figure. Every piece of natural wood is different; the sheet you receive will not have exactly the same color or grain as the photographs.

A name not confined to Australia
Kew accepts Eucalyptus as a genus in Myrtaceae and gives its natural range as the Philippines to Australia. It also records introductions around the world. The name Eucalyptus does not mean that every piece sold comes from the same species or growing region. General distribution and the place where an individual piece of timber grew need to be considered separately. Kew Eucalyptus
From yellowish white to reddish brown
Hoxan describes eucalyptus timber colors ranging from yellowish white to reddish brown, with interlocked grain and a coarse texture. Rather than treating Eucalyptus as a material of one fixed color, examine the actual tone and pattern. This color range describes the timber group generally; it does not mean that every color appears in one sheet. Hoxan: Eucalyptus
With interlocked grain, where fiber direction changes, look not only at the lines but also at the appearance of the surface. Rotate the veneer before bonding it to compare orientations and decide which way should be up and how it should relate to surrounding materials. You might also plan separately for areas showing broad patterns and those used as narrow strips. Hoxan: Eucalyptus
Consider leaves and timber separately
The scent of the leaves or the tree's growth habits cannot be transferred directly to the properties of veneer. The broad name Eucalyptus is not enough to establish a sheet's fragrance, water resistance, or outdoor durability. Separating a need for color and pattern from a need for special performance makes material selection clearer. MORI KOUGEI A4 Veneer Sheet Product Information / Kew Eucalyptus
Using paper-backed A4 veneer
MORI KOUGEI's Eucalyptus is an A4 sheet approximately 0.25 mm thick, combining natural wood veneer with industrial washi paper. Uses include furniture edges, refacing flat wooden surfaces, decorating small objects, and marquetry. Because it is a thin facing material, the strength a project requires must come from a suitable substrate. MORI KOUGEI A4 Veneer Sheet Product Information
Use paper templates to check the areas to cut, and test adhesion and finishing on offcuts. Grain varies from sheet to sheet even under the same Eucalyptus name. Treat the product photograph as an example and decide the layout with the actual material in front of you, making use of its natural colors and lines. MORI KOUGEI A4 Veneer Sheet Product Information
