The collection brings together a wide range of veneers handled by MORI KOUGEI, including both commonly used woods and rare species.

Although they are all wood, each species has its own distinctive color, grain, luster, and texture.
By placing the samples side by side, handling them, and viewing them under different angles of light, you can discover characteristics that cannot be judged from photographs alone.
The sample binder itself is also made by MORI KOUGEI
The veneers are not the only part of this sample book made by MORI KOUGEI. The binder itself is an original MORI KOUGEI design.
The logo on the cover is created using wood marquetry, in which different woods are precisely cut and assembled to form the design.
We wanted this to be more than a simple collection of wood samples — something that can remain close at hand and be used over time as a practical tool for selecting materials.
For that reason, not only the samples but also the binder that holds them is made by MORI KOUGEI.

About the veneer samples
The samples are made from natural wood veneer, thinly sliced from real timber and backed with Japanese paper.
The A4 format provides enough surface area to appreciate the grain and color of each wood, while also making it easy to compare different species side by side.
As these are natural materials, each sheet will vary in grain and color.
These individual differences are part of the unique character of natural wood.
