Tokushima is home to a wide variety of highly skilled woodworking craftsmen.
At MORI KOUGEI, we collaborate with specialists across many different fields of craftsmanship
to help realize our customers’ visions and ideas for furniture that cannot be achieved with mass-produced products.
We also support projects and exports outside of Japan.
［Renovation Project – Singapore House］
Following an email inquiry we received in the spring of 2022,
we held a series of Zoom meetings and assisted in creating custom furniture and fittings tailored precisely to the dimensions of the space.
Although we initially had some concerns about producing the furniture in Tokushima and having it installed by a local contractor overseas,
we were delighted to receive confirmation on the final day of 2022 that the installation had been completed successfully,
along with photographs of the finished interior.
The client had a very clear vision regarding wood species and materials,
and because we were able to carefully discuss every detail — from veneer selection to hardware choices —
the project progressed with exceptional clarity and precision.
The project incorporated a variety of veneer techniques,
including the use of straight-grain sections from white oak flat-sawn veneer and carefully arranged bookmatched compositions.
While visually restrained, the joinery and veneer layout contain subtle and thoughtful details.
