A Special Experience at "KITE MITE MII TOKUSHIMA"

This autumn, Yugen Gaisha MORI KOUGEI (Suehiro, Tokushima City) will host an Open Factory event where visitors can experience the world of craftsmanship firsthand.
For this occasion, our usually closed workshop will be opened to the public, offering a rare opportunity to touch wood materials and explore woodworking techniques.

Demonstration & Explanation ― Discover Materials and Processes

In the “Demonstration & Explanation” program, you will have the chance to witness the advanced woodworking skills of our artisans up close.

Touch a wide variety of wood materials collected from around the world.
Experience the rare opportunity to handle sliced veneer (“Tsuki-ita”) in its raw material state.
Learn about the manufacturing process of decorative plywood through live demonstrations using actual machinery.
Gain specialist knowledge as our artisans explain MORI KOUGEI’s unique techniques, including wood inlay (Mokuzogan).

By “touching the material and learning the process of product making,” you will deepen your understanding of wood.

Workshop ― Create Your One-of-a-Kind Wooden Tray

We will also host workshops where you can create your very own tray using veneer.
Choose your favorite wood colors and combinations, work under the guidance of our artisans, and complete your original piece. Finished trays will be assembled with edge boards, painted, and delivered to you later in perfect MORI KOUGEI quality.

1. Workshop: Tray with Radiating Pattern

Date & Time: November 15 (Sat) 10:00– (approx. 1 hour)
Fee: 12,000 yen (materials included)
Capacity: 8 participants

Create a simple and beautiful tray with a radiating veneer design using your favorite woods.

Date & Time: November 15 (Sat) 14:00– (approx. 2 hours)
Fee: 20,000 yen (materials included)
Capacity: 4 participants

This premium program allows you to freely combine a variety of wood colors to create a completely original design.
Our artisans will support your ideas so that your tray will be as close as possible to your envisioned design.

2nd Floor Gallery Exhibition

During the event period, MORI KOUGEI products will be on display in our 2nd floor gallery.
For those who do not require guided tours, feel free to visit anytime between 13:00–17:00.
