“Japan Mastery Collection” in Haneda Airport Terminal 3

At Haneda Airport Terminal 3 “Japan Mastery Collection”

MORI KOUGEI Works Will Be Exhibited

From Thursday, December 11, 2025, MORI KOUGEI works will be exhibited at Japan Mastery Collection (JMC), located inside the departure area of Haneda Airport Terminal 3, as part of WONDERFUL JAPAN ART!
— An Art Gate Sending the Spirit of Japanese Beauty to the World —

Two works by MORI KOUGEI have been selected for this special exhibition. It will be an opportunity to encounter the quiet beauty of wood in the extraordinary moment just before departure.

■ Featured Works

1. RAYS PLATE Round L Ai-Urushi

Ai-Urushi is a new finish born from the encounter between natural indigo from Tokushima and traditional Japanese urushi lacquer techniques, creating an unprecedented world of deep blue.
The softness unique to indigo and the deep luster of urushi coexist, allowing the color to shift gently depending on the angle of light.

This depth is supported by “RAYS”, a veneering technique inherited and developed by MORI KOUGEI.
By arranging the wood grain radially, an expression appears as though light is spreading outward from the center, making the layered blue of Ai-Urushi feel even richer.

Material, technique, and regional identity quietly resonate within a single surface.

We hope visitors will take a moment before their journey to experience this blue landscape created by indigo, urushi, and wood.

2. Marquetry Rectangle Tray

This marquetry tray combines multiple wood species, including walnut as the base, African padauk, teak, rosewood, and maple.

Every piece of wood has its own rhythm and character.
By combining these diverse expressions, a quiet yet profound landscape emerges, almost like an abstract painting.

This series is created with the feeling of “drawing wood itself, using wood as the material.”

■ Encountering the Living Beauty of Japan at Haneda Airport

Japan Mastery Collection (JMC), where the works will be exhibited, is designed as a space that introduces Japanese craft, art, and design to the world.

Because it is located in the departure area, the excitement and quietness of travel coexist, making each encounter with a work more memorable.
MORI KOUGEI also finds this setting deeply meaningful.

If you have the opportunity to use Haneda Airport Terminal 3, we would be delighted if you stop by to see the works during the moments before your journey.
