What Is TSUKI-JIRI?
Tsuki-jiri refers to the offcuts naturally produced during the veneer manufacturing process — material that would otherwise go unused.
By giving new purpose to these overlooked pieces, MORI KOUGEI transforms what was once considered waste into something worth keeping.

This product is designed as wooden tableware for serving food and small items.
Every Plate Tells Its Own Story
Even within the same wood species, no two pieces share the same grain or tone.
The TSUKI-JIRI WOOD PLATE embraces this natural variation — every single piece is unique. Each time you hold one, you can sense the environment where the tree grew, and the quiet memory of the forest it came from.
The ridged surface adds a hand-crafted texture that makes each plate truly one of a kind.
Designed as wooden tableware for everyday use with food and small objects.
About the Finish
We chose Cerawood — a urethane-based topcoat developed specifically for wood products — to preserve the natural texture of the wood while ensuring the durability needed for everyday tableware use.
Cerawood offers protection against moisture, stains, and UV exposure, making it well-suited for daily use.
Products finished with the same Cerawood specification have undergone food-contact safety testing in accordance with EU standards.
This product is designed for tableware use with foods at room temperature up to comfortably warm (not too hot to touch).
Note: The indigo-dyed & ridged finish highlights the natural character of both the wood and the dyeing process. Variations in color depth, tone, and ridge texture are part of each piece's individuality.
