KŌSHI — 格子
The geometry of light, born from a checkered grain.
A technique in which square veneer blocks are arranged with alternating grain directions.
Checkerboard patterns running horizontally and vertically, diamond shapes achieved through diagonal cuts, diverse compositions that draw out the character of the grain——
Within the same "grid" structure, the direction of the grain and the choice of material give rise to entirely different expressions.
As the angle of light shifts, the shadows change.
Each time you look, a new pattern emerges from within the surface.
If RAYS controls light through radiation,
KŌSHI is the series that controls light through the grid.
