Poplar often brings tree-lined avenues to mind, but its wood also appears in many everyday settings. Its uses range from paper, plywood, and packaging to furniture. MORI KOUGEI offers figured A4 veneer that brings the character of this wood into a project. Poplar is a name for many trees

The genus Populus is widely distributed, mainly across the temperate Northern Hemisphere, and includes trees called aspens and cottonwoods. The trade name Poplar alone does not establish one species or a fixed set of timber properties. This article introduces characteristics found within the group and the breadth of its uses. Kew POWO:Populus / USDA Wood Handbook: Aspen and Cottonwood (pp. 1–3, 1–5 to 1–6)

Despite its similar name, yellow-poplar is the tulip tree, a member of the Magnoliaceae family. This is the wood Hoxan describes as Whitewood, and it is distinct from the poplars in Salicaceae. MORI KOUGEI also offers Poplar and Whitewood as separate products. They are a useful reminder that sharing part of a name does not make two woods the same. A pale, understated wood surface

Among North American Populus timbers, aspen is described as white to grayish white, while cottonwood has whitish sapwood and pale brownish heartwood, generally with an even texture. These are examples within the genus, not a statement that all poplars have the same color or weight. USDA Wood Handbook: Aspen and Cottonwood (pp. 1–3, 1–5 to 1–6)

MORI KOUGEI offers figured sheets. Even a wood with a quiet ground color can display patterns distinct from its usual grain flow. Rather than assuming a burl or a particular type of figure from the product name, consider which area of the sheet you receive you want to show. That makes it easier to find an arrangement suited to the material. MORI KOUGEI Poplar A4 Veneer Sheet

A tree grown for many purposes

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations describes poplars as fast-growing trees that are readily propagated vegetatively. They have been used not only in plantations but also alongside crops and as windbreaks. Their role as a source of timber overlaps with their contribution to rural landscapes and land use. FAO: Contribution of poplars and willows to sustainable forestry and rural development

Uses include pulp for paper, wood-based boards, plywood and veneer, boxes and pallets, and furniture. Beyond decorative surfaces, these woods help transport goods, form panels, and become paper. This account of general uses does not establish how the timber in this product was grown or any environmental certification. Enjoying figure in a thin facing material

MORI KOUGEI's A4 sheet measures 210 × 297 mm and is approximately 0.25 mm thick, with industrial washi paper backing on natural wood veneer. It can be used to face edges, repair flat wooden surfaces, and create marquetry. It adds the color and pattern of wood to a piece; it is not a substitute for a thick board. Prepare a flat surface and test the adhesive and finish on an offcut before use. Positioning paper templates before cutting helps you decide which part of the sheet to use. Treat the photographs as reference examples and enjoy the individual character of each sheet. MORI KOUGEI Poplar A4 Veneer Sheet
