Summer Holiday Notice

We would like to inform you that MORI KOUGEI will be closed for our summer holiday during the following period.

Holiday Period
August 8 (Sat) – August 16 (Sun), 2026

During this period, shipments from our online store, as well as the production of wood veneer, decorative plywood, and other custom processing services, will be suspended.

Our online store will remain open, and we will continue to accept orders and inquiries as usual. However, shipments, production, and responses to inquiries will be handled sequentially from Monday, August 17.

Please note that we typically experience a high volume of orders and production requests before and after the holiday period, which may result in longer lead times than usual. We would greatly appreciate it if you could place your orders well in advance.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding.

 

Summer is also the season for creating art.

Each year, when the factory becomes quiet during the summer holiday, a special kind of time begins at MORI KOUGEI.

The workshop, usually filled with the production of furniture materials, architectural panels, and our own products, finally has a little room to breathe.

It is during this time that our president, Kenichi Mori, devotes himself to creating a new wood marquetry artwork for the Nitten Exhibition, one of Japan's most prestigious annual art exhibitions.

Each veneer sheet is carefully cut by hand, and hundreds of individual pieces are assembled one by one, gradually taking the form of a single artwork.

The photographs shown here capture one of his previous works while it was still in progress. Although the finished image cannot yet be seen, every small step contributes to the final piece.

We are already looking forward to seeing what this year's work will become.
