HCJ2024 出展のお知らせ
MORI KOUGEI will exhibit at HCJ2024 – International Hotel & Restaurant Show , held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 13, 2024.
At the exhibition, we will present several new products and material concepts developed through our veneer craftsmanship.
[TSUKI-ITA TILES]
TSUKI-ITA TILES are custom-made veneer tiles designed for a wide variety of interior spaces.
While simple in appearance, each tile carries the unique expression and warmth that only natural wood can offer, bringing richness and depth into architectural spaces.
This product was developed with the intention of connecting traditional woodworking craftsmanship with the needs of contemporary interior design — not only expanding the possibilities of interior materials, but also transforming the imagination of designers and architects into physical form.
Born from the fusion of tradition and innovation, TSUKI-ITA TILES offer a wide range of customization possibilities through diverse wood species, colors, sizes, shapes, and patterns.
Each tile is carefully handcrafted, allowing for virtually unlimited design variations. Rather than functioning merely as a building material, we hope these tiles can serve as a canvas for realizing unique spatial concepts and architectural visions.
[PLATE]
MORI KOUGEI specializes in creating intricate wood grain patterns using veneer techniques, and continues to develop products that embody this craftsmanship.
In 2020, we released our original product “RAYS TRAY,” which has been appreciated for its quality and artistic expression as an object that enriches everyday life.
Over time, we frequently received practical questions such as: “Can food be placed directly on the surface?” and “Can it be washed with water?”
In response, we refined the design into a more practical and versatile product while preserving the beauty of veneer craftsmanship.
PLATE is available in two finishes:
- A highly durable Cerawood finish with excellent water and heat resistance
- A natural urushi lacquer finish inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship
The urushi-finished PLATE was developed in collaboration with Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi Store in Kyoto.
This new product combines traditional lacquer craftsmanship with MORI KOUGEI’s signature Rays Pattern and marquetry techniques, resulting in what we consider a new form of lacquerware.
The indigo-dyed PLATE is created using a traditional fermentation-based natural indigo dyeing method with Tokushima-grown Japanese indigo.
This finish was developed through collaboration between MORI KOUGEI and Watanabe’s , who manage the entire process from cultivating indigo plants to preparing the dye vat.
Both finishes are suitable for serving food directly, can be washed with water, and are designed for practical daily use.
PLATE is not simply tableware — it is a product intended to transform everyday dining into a richer and more meaningful experience.
