ROUND RAYSTRAY S墨漆

A tray made from thinly sliced wood called “tsukiita.”

The ink lacquer tray is finished with a special lacquer made by mixing raw lacquer with pine soot ink.

This piece is a collaboration between Tsutsumi Asakichi Lacquerware and MORI KOUGEI.

The tray features a wave pattern of white sycamore wood and jet-black sumi lacquer, with the jet-black luster of the lacquer highlighting the wood grain and further enhancing its beauty. One of the charms of lacquer is that its translucency and color change over time.

With daily use and care, the sumi lacquer-finished wooden tray will develop a rich luster and depth.

Its evolving appearance serves as a testament to time, fostering a special bond between the customer and the tray.

[Light Ray Design]

Wood has the characteristic of appearing different in color depending on the angle of light and the direction from which it is viewed. This characteristic is utilized in the design, where triangular veneer pieces are arranged in a circular pattern, creating the illusion of light rays emanating from the center.

[Sumizuri]

A special lacquer made by mixing raw lacquer with pine soot.

Pine soot is a natural pigment that has been used in Japan for centuries to create black color.

When mixed with lacquer, it creates a unique lustrous black finish.



The round tray is lighter and easier to handle compared to solid wood trays.
