Rays Tray
A technique in which triangular-cut veneer pieces are arranged radially from a central point.
A bundle of thinly sliced veneer is cut into precise triangles at the same position, then laid out in sequence, radiating outward. In doing so, the pattern that lay dormant within the wood quietly emerges across the entire surface.
Which part of the wood to use. At what angle to cut——
a single choice gives rise to an entirely different expression.
As the light shifts and the angle of view changes, so does the shadow and depth.
Each time you look, the tray reveals a different face.
An expression that cannot be calculated. One that only wood can create.
